It’s April. The birds should be singing, flowers should be blooming, and people should be enjoying the warm sunshine and rain showers that bring joy of new beginnings and warmer weather.
At least those were my expectations. But, like many people living in the northern states, my expectations have not been met. In the great state of Minnesota, we have had an astonishing about of snow since April 2nd. While the snow has brought with it a lot of beauty, it’s also caused a lot of cabin fever and dreams of days when the ground is green (and viewable for that matter)…Finding myself back in January while my heart is longing for May got me thinking: How can I add spring and sunshine into my life without creating a weather machine? The answer… My oil box!
doTERRA’s Cheer essential oil has become one of my most faithful friends in these long winter months. This oil is created to promote feelings of cheerfulness and optimism, counteracting negative emotions of feeling down, blue, or that sad and restless cabin fever feeling that occurs when spring is just not coming fast enough.
I have learned to add a little more Cheer to my life by:
Diffusing it rooms where I spend the most time. It nurtures an uplifting environment.
Keeping my doTERRA Cheer Touch (a really convenient pre-diluted roll-on) in my bag and apply it to my wrist and back of my neck when I need to brighten up a bit.

If you think about it, cheerfulness is a choice. The outlook we have on life is affected not only by our experiences, like spending time with loved ones, the weather, or spilling coffee on our brand new shirt (ugh!), but also the way we choose to process and respond to our experiences. This is where I have found Cheer and the other Emotional Aroma Touch oils to be very helpful. It can be a lot of work to think “green grass and sunshine” when surrounded by grey slush and snow storms, but having an oil that helps promote a cheerful mood is really helpful.
So cheer up buttercup! Spring is coming! (maybe it is already there where you are!). Keep moving, keep growing, break out a bottle of Cheer essential oil and remember, cheerfulness is a choice.
